When in 1988 in long term transit in Havanna I lit my first Sancho Panza I did not yet know I was to become a cigar dealer. Of course I didn't know, because I did not become one, even though I came really close. But maybe it is for the better, because it enabled me to surprise you with this little gift that you might even enjoy in the end.

In reality, looking at it from a certain viewpoint, all planets look like a human skull. Without any doubt the Sun simply is the shining genius amongst them. Evidently, that is the main reason why we have so much affection and fascination for the Moon…

Balogh B: - My objective, my ambition is to put the two things together into one brain, can you understand me? I trust that in 300 years it'll be pretty easy to commute between Hungary and Japan, that in the brains of one or two people, this realization is happening already. This thought occurred to me right now, I mean the definition, but I have had the feeling since long ago. This is something like for a child on an exchange visit. As if in your childhood you had exchanged homes with a friend, and had lived with his family for three days.

Szemző: - As a child, I did participate in a children's exchange visit. I'm telling you.

Tokyo conversation, late night at the Wadabori park, November 11th 1994.

The free picture show has started, and you get to play a role in it. What do you see! That too is hard to answer because there are so many reasons. Too many reasons.

Tibor Szemzö

Born in Budapest in 1955, graduated form Hungarian Music Academy, musician and composer, author of videos, installations and film experiments, and founder of the music "enterprise" Gordiusi Čomó. He has given concerts since 1970s, either solo, or as member of groups he co-founded, including Group 180, New Modern Acrobats, and Mixed Ensemble. His multi-media concerts are accompanied by screenings of his films, registered on super 8-mm tape. He treats film images as another instrument in the orchestra, an element of his musical composition. Szemzö's first feature-length film, A Guest of Life (Az élet vendége: Csoma-legendárium, 2006), shown at the 7th IFF ENH, was an inspiration for the film opera Csoma, created specifically for Wrocław Opera.
